This is Stephanie greeting me upon her arrival. Could you ask for a happier bride? Within a couple of minutes of being in the presence of her parents and twin sister, I wanted to be adopted by them…they spilled over in joy, love and togetherness. I felt lucky just to be in their company.

At times I have moments of distraction from needing to do my job and getting caught up in the emotion taking place in front of me. Throughout the ceremony I watched Glen gently stroke Stephanie’s hand as they quietly and thoughtfully looked into each others eyes.

There was an abundance of good humour in these two. Stephanie told me they bring out the child and playfulness in each other. Appropriately, their wedding rings were brought up the aisle by two ring bearers in plastic candy trash cans – remember those!

These two have been friends for a long time and their deep love and friendship for each other is wonderfully apparent.

Stephanie and Glen, I love your Love. I’m honoured to have been a witness and a participant in your very special lives!

As you can see from the images, there were many beautiful areas to photograph around the property. I was hired for 3 hours which allowed me to take images of the couple prior to the ceremony. After the ceremony, my time was done and the day was still young!

Half of the family came from the east coast and rented a couple of house boats to live on during their stay (they make for fun photographs too).

Some quickie shots of my lunch out with a friend today. Atomica served us a sundried tomato ravioli with proscuitto and fennel in a tomato sauce – yum. And a pizza of goat cheese, olives, artichoke and other bits of goodness.

I have a wedding this Saturday and one on Monday night, (yes I said Monday night) at the Grange Winery in Prince Edward County. I’ll be a busy gal. See you back here soon!

I brought them promptly home and I can tell you that half of them are already in my belly and they taste just as sweet as can be.

I’ve had a bit of time off between jobs and this week have been swimming a bunch of times, picking pears from my tree before they ripen, buying and eating homemade raspberry jam, sailing, reading, listening to new music and napping.  Not too shabby eh? However my life is far from perfect and there are matters I should be attending to, but there is a part of me that is inherently lazy I’ve come to realize, and when the heat of the summer is here, I want to take full advantage of the beautiful natural surroundings that I have chosen to live amongst and indulge.

The aforementioned peach pie that I made yesterday, minus a piece. Okay, so my crust presentation needs work, but it tasted good and for me, that’s what counts, but I will work on it. However I do appreciate the crumbly, disheveled look of it. It adds character, and you should know that is important in a pie.

On a side note, I just pulled from the oven my first handmade peach pie. I adore peach pie, don’t you?

After 10 years of being together, Kevin and Claire tied the knot at the Cumberland Heritage Village near Ottawa, ON.

Knowing these two a little bit from their time living on Wolfe Island, I believe they picked the perfect venue to represent some of their old time values. The village itself houses a little chapel, several clapboard homes, horse drawn wagons, pigs, teeter totters and old wooden swings.  Theirs was a homemade and old time affair with croquet on the lawn, a square dance to tie off the evening, homemade strawberry jam for guests, dinner under a covered picnic area, antique bottles with flowers and pie instead of cake for dessert.

I feel lucky to have been chosen to document and share in the love of these two fine folks!

Yesterday I spent the day in beautiful Prince Edward County at Chadsey Cairns Winery where they were hosting two fine Canadian musicians, siblings, Matt and Jill Barber.

It was a special day for the Barber family as their parents were celebrating their 40th wedding anniversary, and so the concert took on a festive air with family and close friends among the audience. Wine, was of course, available and served along with tapenades and sorbet with a hint of wine flavour, very yummy.

From the images above you will note that it took place in a barn set in among the vineyard itself. If you enjoy romantic melodies accompanied by acoustic guitar and harmonica, I would definitely check out Matt Barber, he just came out with a new cd release entitled True Believer.

Jill and her fantastic 3 man band boast sounds from another era. Take a listen to her latest album, Chances and you won’t be sorry.

Chadsey’s are hosting musicians in their barn throughout the summer months, so do yourself a favour and spend the day in a lovely setting listening to some fine Canadian talent.

This was the first time I have photographed another photographer, so I was honoured when Andrea chose me to document her wedding.

Andrea is a travel photographer and a lawyer, although she has been slowly removing herself from practicing law. The wedding in Kingston was held at the University Club with a small gathering of family. After this celebration, they took off traveling in Europe, stopping in Italy for wedding #2 among more family and friends. You can bet I wanted that gig too!

Meeting Andrea was like seeing a direct reflection of myself, we are so bloody similar. I understood her, what she wanted, what she didn’t want, immediately. One of those individuals where you don’t always need words to explain yourself b/c you just know, you just get it. It was fun to talk shop, geek out discussing equipment and lenses, sympathize at how our solo jobs can get lonely at times…I made not just a new friend, but a new photo buddy too!

I’ve written it before, but I love the connections I make with my clients. Andrea and Peter’s families welcomed me with open arms into their fold while I witnessed the deep love they all give and receive from one another.

And at the end of my working day, I feel enriched for the experience and extremely lucky that my job fills me up to no end!

Fortunately for me, my mom and sister (above image) are two women I can easily laugh with long and hard, until I’m gasping for breath at times.

We spent Sunday at our family cottage and I confessed to them that sometimes I lie in bed and think on a time when we’ve shared a good laugh, and the memory of it will even make me laugh out loud!
