Boudoir Photography Frequently Asked Questions

What is Boudoir Photography?

Modern boudoir photographers focus on creating a feminine intimate portrait that reflects your sensual personality. The actual word “boudoir” implies something soft and sensual rather than erotic.

Will my photos be on the internet?

Not unless you say it’s okay. Every client I feature on my web site/blog has given me written permission to post her images.  If you aren’t comfortable with any images being shared just let me know.

I have cellulite/stretch marks/acne. Can you get rid of that?

In most cases, yes*. Removal of acne, acne scarring, stretchmarks, and cellulite is part of the retouching process.  The right poses and lighting will be used to emphasize your best assets.

*if you have severe cellulite or acne, I may not be able to retouch it all out. If you’d like a personalized consultation to discuss it, just let me know.

Do I bring my own lingerie, or do you provide the outfits?

You need to bring your own lingerie to the photo shoot.  Select outfits that suit your personality and body shape, and complement your skin tone.  If you need help with outfit ideas, or you’d like to book a consultation to discuss wardrobe, send me an email. What outfits to wear?  There are a few lingerie stores, and while at least one piece of lingerie is recommended, don’t run out and buy all kinds of lingerie.  Simplicity in your wardrobe is best.  Dig through your closet and find a couple of your favorites items – a loose top or sweater with nothing else on but a pair of heels is very sexy. And don’t forget about the jewelry.

What about hair and makeup, do I do it myself?

Hair and makeup is available for every photo session, and my stylists have been hand-picked (by me) for their talents. I want to provide an experience that makes you feel beautiful and pampered, and images that will help you appreciate the true beauty you possess!

Can I bring a friend to my shoot?

Generally I prefer to work one on one with my clients, simply because sometimes an ‘audience’ can make you feel more self conscious.

Where do the shoots take place?

I prefer to shoot in the privacy of my client’s home.  There is just something so much more personal about it and I’m able to get a better feel for my client’s personality to incorporate in the images.  When the shoot takes place at your home, be sure to remove any distracting items from nightstands (i.e. alarm clocks, books, photos, etc.) and tables.  Often times we will photograph in the bedroom (of course), and then venture out to a chair, the floor, a window…the possibilities are endless.

I’m feeling nervous.

This is so much fun, your nerves won’t last long I promise! I create a very comfortable atmosphere and before you know it, you’re nerves are gone and you’re feeling relaxed . Some do find a glass of champagne, wine or beer helpful in calming your nerves.

What else should I know?

Sessions are available to women aged 21 and over (you may be asked to provide ID).
