I was one of the many photographers who volunteered their services for Kingston’s Shoreline Shuffle that took place June 23rd along an 8km stretch of waterfront in order to bring awareness about the need for better public access and waterfront planning in our city. I was happy to take part in an issue I believe strongly. Fifteen pieces of ‘word art’ were installed along the route. Several hundred people walked, biked, ran, swam and boated along the shoreline. It was a very hot, yet equally satisfying day spent solely along the water’s shore. The walk ended at Lake Ontario Park where a welcome breeze, food vendors, music and children played in the new splash pad. Early next year an exhibition of the photographers images will be curated in an art show to keep the subject of the importance of waterfront public access alive. I’ll keep posting some of my favourite images from that day over the next while.
